The Arcadian Coast Path traverses the mountain ranges between the traditional Greek towns of Astros and Leonidio, whilst always looking down across the blue Aegean seascapes. The route visits archaeological sites, hilltop churches, lakes and beaches on its way through North and South Kynouria. The route also includes one of the easier canyons.
In total, the route is around 80km, divided into six sections, and most hikers would take five or six days to complete it. Alternative routes are suggested for those who want to do the entire journey but prefer lower-level walking and beaches.
Within the book is the following information:
... Concise descriptions of each of the six section's walk.
... Alternatives for easier day's walking.
... 18 detailed large-scale maps.
... GPS references for key path junctions and landmarks.
... Information describing points of interest along the route.
... Location of springs and wells.
... Over 100 illustrative photos and cross-sections.
... Viewpoint information.
... Recommendations for 21 additional walks (many of which are circular).
... How to get to Arcadia.
... Logistics for planning the route.
... Descriptions of climate, local geology, wildlife and flowers, history and local culture.
... An appendix of useful Greek words and phrases.
The book serves both a guide and a memento for those who walk in beautiful Kynouria.
