Nato nel 1935, passato grazie a successivi ampliamenti dagli 8.000 ettari iniziali agli attuali 134.619, il Parco Nazionale dello Stelvio ospita vette altissime come l’Ortles, il Gran Zebrù e il Cevedale, meravigliose foreste di abete rosso e larice, pascoli d’alta quota e cascate, un centinaio tra laghi e laghetti di montagna e lo stesso numero di ghiacciai.
Chi percorre i sentieri, le vette e i ghiacciai dello Stelvio è il benvenuto. L’invito dell’autore a chi legge e utilizza sul terreno questa guida è di guardarsi intorno, ammirare e capire. In the geographical heart of the Alps, next to the borders with Switzerland and Austria, lies one of the most beautiful and important protected areas in Europe.
