Starting in Arlon-la-Romaine, the route passes through Étalle, Chiny, Florenville, Herbeumont, Bouillon, Vresse, and finally Monthermé, where the Semoy River (now part of France, it changed its name) flows into the Meuse. Hikers are invited to explore or admire legendary, almost mythical sites: the Giant's Tomb, the Knight's Tomb, the Rochehaut ladders, the Frahan ridges, the Squirrel Rocks, Pinco, Lenel, and Saloru, the Roc la Tour, and many others. The route boasts a total elevation gain of over 4,400 meters, which is roughly half the total elevation gain of the entire GR Tour du Mont Blanc! From Arlon to Monthermé, as the crow flies, it's not 80 kilometers, but the "Semois Trail" covers more than 200! Not to mention the 11 variations that give you the choice between a riverside route or one along the ridges. For this seventh edition (in french), the guidebook's presentation has been revamped, the GR 16 route slightly modified, its description updated, and the documentation expanded.
