Juliana Trail is a 270-kilometer long-distance hiking trail that embraces the entire eastern part of the Julian Alps. Rather than climbing Triglav and the surrounding peaks, the trail leads through alpine valleys and forests, along rivers and lakes, and over mountain passes.

A hiking journey along the Juliana Trail offers opportunities to explore away from the main tourist routes, rewarding hikers with authentic experiences and a deeper awareness of the uniqueness and diversity of this part of the Julian Alps.

Although the trail connects some of Slovenia’s best-known tourist destinations—such as Kranjska Gora, Bled, Bohinjand Bovec—it mainly passes through quieter valleys and villages, often following old and nearly forgotten paths.

Since the trail is circular, it can be started anywhere, though its official starting point is in Kranjska Gora. From there it follows the Sava Dolinka River to Radovljica, continues via Bled onto the Pokljuka Plateau, descends into Bohinj, and then crosses the ridges of the Tolmin–Bohinj Mountains into the Baška grapa valley before continuing toward Most na Soči. From there the trail follows the Soča River, crossing the Predel Pass and passing by the Fusine Lakes before returning to the Sava Valley and back to Kranjska Gora.

In just over five years since its creation, the Juliana Trail has become one of the most popular long-distance alpine hiking trails in Europe.
