E' anche un tuffo nel passato perché quando si calcano i basolati romani fra i vasti boschi autoctoni, lontani da tutto, si è circondati dallo stesso paesaggio che attraversarono, con lo stesso nostro stato d’animo, per più di mille anni le legioni romane prima, poi le migliaia di pellegrini e viandanti che sceglievano, non senza patemi, la via più corta e logica per andare da Bologna a Firenze.
