12 legs and 7 variants from Monguelfo to Belluno along the Alta Via 1 of the Dolomites. The Alta Via delle Dolomiti n.1 was the very first route of this kind and was inaugurated in 1966. After fifty years this remains one of the most spectacular north-south routes in the Dolomites. It crosses the Braies valley, the Croda del Becco, the plateaus of Fanes and Sennes, the Tofane, the Averau and the Nuvolau. After the Giau pass the route goes around Mount Pelmo and Mount Civetta, then leads across the wild San Sebastiano-Tamer range. The last stretch before descending to Belluno is an exposed via ferrata on Mount La Schiara. The route is described in great detail and the trail was entirely mapped on food with a GPS. This guidebook includes maps at 1:50.000 scale that where made especially for this publication.
