Der Goldsteig durchzieht auf idyllischen Wegen und 660 Kilometern den Oberpfälzer Wald und den Bayerischen Wald. Auf zwei Routen – einer bergigen und einer sanfteren – führt der Weitwanderweg von Marktredwitz bis nach Passau. Beide Varianten und zusätzlich die zahlreichen Verbindungswege stellt der Rother Wanderführer »Goldsteig« vor.

Auf der bergigen Nordroute sind vom Kaitersberg bis zum Großen Arber zwölf Tausender-Gipfel zu überwinden. Faszinierende Felslandschaften, dichte Wälder und grandiose Gipfelerlebnisse garantieren ein wahres Wandervergnügen. Gemütlicher verläuft die Südroute: Hier beeindrucken das wilde Hölltal, die herrlichen Gipfel rund um Sankt Englmar und die schöne Landschaft um den Brotjacklriegel. The Goldsteig trail winds its way through the Upper Palatinate Forest and the Bavarian Forest for 660 kilometers, following idyllic paths. This long-distance hiking trail leads from Marktredwitz to Passau along two routes – one mountainous and one gentler. Both routes, as well as the numerous connecting paths, are presented in the Rother hiking guide "Goldsteig."

On the mountainous northern route, hikers must conquer twelve peaks over 1,000 meters high, from the Kaitersberg to the Großer Arber. Fascinating rock formations, dense forests, and magnificent summit experiences guarantee a truly enjoyable hiking experience. The southern route is more leisurely: Here, the wild Hölltal valley, the magnificent peaks around Sankt Englmar, and the beautiful landscape around the Brotjacklriegel are particularly impressive. Hikers are also well catered for along the way: Inns offering traditional delicacies invite them to linger. The Goldsteig has been awarded the "Quality Trail Wanderable Germany" seal of approval and is included in the list of "Top Trails of Germany."

Author Eva Krötz presents all 38 stages of the Goldsteig trail, along with all access and alternative routes, with precise descriptions, numerous photos, route maps, and elevation profiles.
