La provincia di Prato, a dispetto dell’estensione ridotta del suo territorio, offre numerose opportunità per gli escursionisti che vogliono immergersi nella natura. Già a breve distanza dalla città, la rete sentieristica è molto variegata e si presta tanto alle passeggiate per le famiglie, quanto a itinerari per escursionisti più esperti.
In questa guida, pubblicata in occasione dei 140 anni del CAI di Prato, si suggeriscono 30 itinerari per andare alla scoperta di ogni zona del territorio montano dell’Appennino Pratese.
La natura si presenta con vesti diverse da una zona all’altra di quest’area: dalle praterie della Calvana alle faggete dell’Acquerino, dall’arido Monteferrato ai boschi rigogliosi dei versanti appenninici. Se questo territorio merita di essere attraversato a piedi già solo per gli aspetti naturalistici, la maggior parte degli itinerari proposti nella guida consente di scoprire emergenze storiche e luoghi in cui si sono svolti episodi che hanno segnato la storia locale.

The province of Prato, despite its small size, offers numerous opportunities for hikers who want to immerse themselves in nature. Already a short distance from the city, the network of trails is very varied and lends itself to both family walks and itineraries for more experienced hikers.
In this guide, published on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the CAI of Prato, 30 itineraries are suggested to discover every area of the mountainous territory of the Prato Apennines.
Nature presents itself in different ways from one area to another in this area: from the Calvana prairies to the Acquerino beech forests, from the arid Monteferrato to the lush woods of the Apennine slopes. If this territory is worth crossing on foot for its naturalistic aspects alone, most of the itineraries proposed in the guide allow you to discover historical emergencies and places where episodes that have marked local history took place.
