La Val Pusteria è senza dubbio una delle più importanti vallate alpine: il suo territorio, oltre a rappresentare la linea di separazione tra le Dolomiti a sud, dalle Alpi Aurine e Pusteresi a nord, comprende la linea spartiacque tra il bacino Mediterraneo (Fiume Rienza) e quello del Mar Nero (Fiume Drava). Ma non solo: è il confine culturale tra la cultura ladina, tedesca e slava. Il territorio di questa splendida area corrisponde in larghissima parte al bacino imbrifero del Fiume Rienza e, nella parte più orientale oltre la Sella di Dobbiaco, a una minuscola parte di quello della Drava. La guida percorre, attraverso 39 escursioni, l'intero territorio, comprendendo, oltre alla valle principale, anche la Valle di Braies, la Valle di Landro, la Valle di Sesto, la Valle di Anterselva e la Val Casies.

The Pusteria Valley is undoubtedly one of the most important Alpine valleys: its territory, in addition to representing the dividing line between the Dolomites to the south, from the Aurine and Pusteresi Alps to the north, includes the watershed line between the Mediterranean basin (Rienza River) and that of the Black Sea (Drava River). But not only that: it is the cultural border between the Ladin, German and Slavic cultures. The territory of this splendid area corresponds for the most part to the catchment basin of the Rienza River and, in the easternmost part beyond the Sella di Dobbiaco, to a tiny part of that of the Drava. The guide, through 39 excursions, covers the entire territory, including, in addition to the main valley, also the Braies Valley, the Landro Valley, the Sesto Valley, the Anterselva Valley and the Casies Valley.
