Description

hiking guide

The Alta Via delle Dolomiti number 1 was the first to be conceived and its route was inaugurated in 1966. After fifty years it remains one of the most beautiful north-south routes in the Dolomites, given that it crosses the Braies valley, the Croda del Becco, the plateaus of Fanes and Sennes, the Tofane, the Averau and the Nuvolau. After the Giau pass it goes around the Pelmo and the Civetta and finally crosses the wild San Sebastiano-Tamer group to end in Belluno after having also climbed over La Schiara with via ferratas. The guide also describes the route, already tested by the Germans, which south of Belluno crosses the Col Visentin and the hills of Conegliano and, following the course of the Piave, reaches Jesolo and then Venice after another seven stages of paths surrounded by woods and river vegetation first and lagoon vegetation in the last two hamlets. The guide describes the route in great detail, all of which was recorded with GPS and transposed onto specially created 1:50,000 scale tables.
