The "Devoto Cammino dei Sacri Monti", from the Sacro Monte of Domodossola to that of Ossuccio on Lake Como, extends for about 700 km and can be covered in 30 stages. It is certainly the path that touches the largest number of Unesco sites in the world, thanks to the presence of the nine Sacred Mountains, two archaeological and pile-dwelling areas, the Savoy residences of Turin, the Langhe and Monferrato and the city of Ivrea. It is a route that combines various existing paths in the Piedmont and Lombardy area and which connects with the main European slow-moving routes, such as the Via Francigena, the Way of San Bernardo from the Simplon to Novara, the Via Francisca del Lucomagno and the Via Francigena Renana which descends from Spluga and Lake Como to Milan. But it is certainly the landscape, in addition to the devotional aspect of innumerable sanctuaries, that characterizes the Devoto Cammino most, starting with the pre-alpine lakes, passing through the Monferrato wine landscapes and touching the rice plain, up to the foothills of Monte Rosa.
