Le Valli di Lanzo sono sempre state considerate dai torinesi quasi come una propaggine allungata tra i monti della capitale subalpina. La storia dell’alpinismo è passata di qui, tra queste rocce e questi ghiacci. Dopo il periodo esplorativo, seguito dalle grandi realizzazioni della prima metà del ‘900, le Valli di Lanzo sono legate indissolubilmente alle figure di Gian Carlo Grassi, Gian Piero Miotti e Ugo Manera che, insieme a tanti altri arrampicatori, tracciarono le vie più significative della zona.
A questi negli anni a venire son seguiti altri fortissimi apritori tra cui Marco Blatto, l’autore di questo libro, grande appassionato e vero esperto delle tre valli torinesi.

The Valli di Lanzo have always been considered by the people of Turin almost as an extension of the mountains of the subalpine capital. The history of mountaineering has passed through here, between these rocks and these ices. After the exploratory period, followed by the great achievements of the first half of the 20th century, the Valli di Lanzo are inextricably linked to the figures of Gian Carlo Grassi, Gian Piero Miotti and Ugo Manera who, together with many other climbers, traced the most significant routes in the area. In the years to come, these were followed by other very strong openers including Marco Blatto, the author of this book, a great enthusiast and true expert of the three Turin valleys.
