Dopo 30 anni dalla prima pubblicazione, presentiamo la quarta edizione di una guida che viene definita dagli appassionati la Bibbia per quanto riguarda l’arrampicata sulle cascate di ghiaccio del Nord-Est italiano.

Il mondo delle cascate negli ultimi 30 anni ha ricevuto una vera rivoluzione. Malgrado si tratti di ambienti severi, dove spesso regna il freddo più intenso, proprio nei momenti in cui ci sarebbe più bisogno di sole e calore, un numero sempre più nutrito di appassionati arrampicatori si dedica a scalare le cascate di ghiaccio.
Negli ultimi decenni, anche a caausa dei cambiamenti climatici che naturalmente incidono in modo importante sulla formazione del ghiaccio, gli alpinisti, soprattutto quelli di punta, sono passati dalla pura scalata su ghiaccio a quella sulle pareti di roccia, andando a collegare sempre più esigue colate gelate.

Un’attività in grande evoluzione, quindi, che ogni anno vede nuove aperture di linee fino a pochi anni fa impensabili.

Questa guida vuole così fermare per un attimo il tempo e fare il punto della situazione attuale con la recensione di 508 vie di ghiaccio e misto.
Lo fa partendo dal cuore delle Dolomiti, in un progetto che riguarda l’intera area italiana di Nord-Est.

After 30 years from the first publication, we present the fourth edition of a guide that enthusiasts define as the Bible for ice climbing in North-East Italy.

The world of ice climbing has undergone a real revolution in the last 30 years. Despite the harsh environments, where the most intense cold often reigns, precisely at the moments when sun and heat are most needed, an ever-increasing number of climbing enthusiasts are dedicating themselves to climbing ice waterfalls.

In recent decades, also due to climate changes that naturally have a significant impact on the formation of ice, climbers, especially top climbers, have moved from pure ice climbing to rock climbing, connecting increasingly small frozen flows.

An activity in great evolution, therefore, that every year sees new openings of lines that until a few years ago were unthinkable.

This guide aims to stop time for a moment and take stock of the current situation with the review of 508 ice and mixed routes.
It does so starting from the heart of the Dolomites, in a project that concerns the entire north-eastern Italian area.
