Valpelline.
This first volume of the Vie Normali Valle d’Aosta series examines all the peaks listed and indicated as such in the official cartography of the Autonomous Region of Valle d’Aosta, which fall as access from the Saint Barthélemy Valley and Valtournenche, for a total of 95 peaks.
No peak has been left out and all the routes have been climbed personally by the authors, almost exclusively in the 2018 summer season. Some mountains have logical routes of ascent from more than one side and from different valleys, but in this case the technically easiest routes and with the most logical route, with the smallest difference in altitude, with an easier approach and with a shorter duration have been selected. In any case, any variants and other possibilities of climbing to the same peak are indicated in the respective entries.
Some peaks that are part of the geographical, visual and mountaineering horizon of these valleys, but which present a shorter, more logical and safe normal route (also in relation to the transformations of the mountains that have occurred in recent decades) that develops from the neighboring valleys, are included in the relative volumes of the series and in particular in Volume 2. Monte Rosa. Valle d’Ayas and Valle di Gressoney and in Volume 8. Dent d’Heréns. Valpelline.
