DIE ULTIMATIVE ITALIENREISE DURCH VENETIEN, DIE EMILIA-ROMAGNA, TOSKANA, UMBRIEN UND LATIUM

Gleich zu Beginn der Tour werden Sie von dem wunderschönen Venedig verzaubert, das Sie per Schiff in die Strand- und Fischerwelt des Lido entlässt. Mit direktem Kontakt zum Meer erreichen Sie die kleine Schwester Venedigs, Chioggia. Von da an wenden Sie sich nun dem ebenen Binnenland zu und tauchen in die ruhige Naturlandschaft des Podeltas ein, bevor Sie sich wieder der mondäneren Welt des Strandlebens bis hinunter nach Ravenna zuwenden. Kulturell spannend wird es dann vor allem in Ravenna, Sie befinden sich nun schon mitten in der Region Emilia-Romagna. Hinter Ravenna erwarten Sie noch einige Kilometer in der landwirtschaftlich geprägten Ebene, dann erwartet Sie schon bald die erste sportliche Herausforderung dieser Tour, die Überquerung des Appenin. Inmitten der hügeligen Landschaft des Mugello erobern Sie sich die beliebte Ferienregion Toskana und die berühmte Hauptstadt der Region, Florenz. Nachdem Sie das geschichtsträchtige Zentrum der Toscana verlassen haben, tauchen Sie in das ebenso bekannte Chianti-Gebiet ein mit seinen Weingärten und ausgedehnten Wäldern. Sie weichen dann gen Osten ins Tal des Arno ab und gelangen entlang der Naturparks rund um die Stauseen des Arno in die sehenswerte Stadt Arezzo. Nachdem Sie wieder intensiv italienische Stadt- und Kulturluft geschnuppert haben, machen Sie sich entlang des Sentiero della Bonifica an den Ufern des Chiana-Kanals wieder auf gen Süden. Lassen Sie sich auf Ihrem weiteren Weg von dem schmucken Cortona bezaubern und genießen Sie den Blick auf die weite, stille Wasserfläche des Trasimeno-Sees. Nächster kultureller Höhepunkt ist dann die Hauptstadt der Region Umbrien, die Universitätsstadt Perugia mit ihren zahlreichen Sehenswürdigkeiten und mit typisch italienischem Flair. Ein weiterer Höhepunkt ist bald erreicht, die Pilgerstadt Assisi, hier wandeln Sie auf den Spuren des heiligen Franz von Assisi. Das folgende Wegstück ist geprägt von ruhigen Straßen und Radwegen in der Ebene und entzückenden Städten inmitten von Olivenhainen an Berghängen gelegen, die von kräftigen Radlerbeinen erobert werden wollen wie Spello, Trevi und Spoleto. Danach geht’s dann wieder so richtig zur Sache, nun ist Ihre Kondition wieder gefordert. Auf einsamen Wegen wandeln Sie bergauf und bergab bis nach Terni. Auf den Spuren von Römern und Etruskern überqueren Sie dann die Grenze zwischen der Region Umbrien und dem Latium. Entlang der Sabinischen Berge umfängt Sie eine Gegend, die sich ganz der Kultivierung des Olivenbaumes verschrieben hat, schmucke Orte auf charakteristischen Hügeln, den Poggi, geben Ihnen hier das Geleit, bevor Sie erstmals dem Tiber begegnen. Noch einmal erwartet Sie ein stetiges Auf und Ab durch hügelige Landschaft mit schönen Ausblicken, dann endlich ist das Ziel erreicht. Die Radler empfängt Rom mit einem wunderschönen Radweg entlang des Tibers, der Sie verkehrsfrei mitten in die quirlige Hauptstadt Italiens hineinführt, das sagenumwobene Rom, die Stadt der Superlative mit seiner unglaublichen Jahrtausende währenden Geschichte. 

Die Gesamtlänge der Strecke von Venedig über Florenz nach Rom beträgt rund 900 Kilometer. 

Right at the start of the tour, you will be enchanted by the beautiful Venice, which releases you into the beach and fishing world of the Lido by ship. With direct contact to the sea you can reach the little sister of Venice, Chioggia. From then on, turn to the flat inland area and immerse yourself in the peaceful natural landscape of the Podeltas before turning back to the more sophisticated world of beach life down to Ravenna. It will then be culturally exciting, especially in Ravenna, you are now in the middle of the Emilia-Romagna region. Behind Ravenna, a few kilometers await you on the agricultural plain, then the first sporting challenge of this tour, the crossing of the Appenin, will soon await you. In the midst of the hilly Mugello landscape, you can conquer the popular holiday region of Tuscany and the famous capital of the region, Florence. After leaving the historic center of Tuscany, immerse yourself in the equally famous Chianti area with its vineyards and extensive forests. You then head east into the Arno Valley and along the nature parks around the Arno reservoirs you come to the beautiful city of Arezzo. After sniffing the Italian city and cultural air again, head south along the Sentiero della Bonifica on the banks of the Chiana Canal. Let yourself be enchanted by the pretty Cortona on your way and enjoy the view of the wide, still water of Lake Trasimeno. The next cultural highlight is the capital of the Umbria region, the university town of Perugia with its numerous sights and with typical Italian flair. Another high point will soon be reached, the pilgrimage town of Assisi, where you will walk in the footsteps of St. Francis of Assisi. The following section is characterized by quiet roads and bike paths in the plain and delightful towns in the middle of olive groves on mountain slopes that want to be conquered by strong cyclists like Spello, Trevi and Spoleto. Then things really get going again, now your condition is required again. On lonely paths you walk uphill and downhill to Terni. In the footsteps of Romans and Etruscans, you will cross the border between the Umbria region and the Lazio region. Along the Sabinian Mountains you will find an area that is completely dedicated to the cultivation of the olive tree, neat places on characteristic hills, the Poggi, give you the escort here before you encounter the Tiber for the first time. Once again a steady up and down through hilly landscape with beautiful views awaits you, then the goal is finally reached. Cyclists receive Rome with a beautiful bike path along the Tiber, which leads you traffic-free into the lively capital of Italy, the legendary Rome, the city of superlatives with its incredible millennia-long history.
