Das Saarland liegt eingebettet zwischen Luxemburg, Lothringen und Rheinland-Pfalz und ist geprägt durch drei unterschiedliche Naturlandschaften: den Hunsrück, die Gaulandschaften von Saar, Mosel und Blies und das Saar-Nahe-Berg- und Hügelland. Bemerkbar macht sich auf jeden Fall der französische Einfluss, bestehen doch seit jeher gemeinsame Wurzeln.
Namensgebend ist die Saar, die sich auf einer Länge von 80 Kilometer durch das kleine Bundesland windet. Aber auch weitere Flüsse prägen die Region: so durchzieht die Blies mit einer Länge von 100 Kilometer das Saarland, die Nahe entspringt hier, und im Nordwesten wird es von der Mosel begrenzt.
Der Saarland-Radweg führt Sie zum Großteil an den Außengrenzen, teils auf alten Treidelpfaden, rund um des Saarland. Sie radeln entlang von Flüssen und Bächen, durchqueren Wälder und Wiesen, erleben beschauliche Dörfer und entdecken interessante kulturelle und historische Sehenswürdigkeiten.
Die VeloRoute SaarLorLux verläuft durch die Flusstäler und Weinberge von Saar und Mosel, durch das liebliche Sauertal und entlang der lothringischen Seen. Hübsche kleine Städte wie Sarreguemines, Metz und Luxemburg bieten zahlreiche kulturelle Höhepunkte und gastronomische Gaumenfreuden. Die älteste Stadt Deutschlands, Trier, ist mit den stattlichen Römerbauten, der Kaisertherme und dem Amphitheater Zeuge einer vergangenen, ruhmreichen Epoche. 

Die Länge des Saarland-Radweges mit Start und Endziel Saarbrücken beträgt ca.?355?Kilometer. Die VeloRoute SaarLorLux führt auf rund 480?Kilometer durch das Dreiländereck. Ausflüge und Varianten sind dabei nicht berücksichtigt.

The Saarland is nestled between Luxembourg, Lorraine and Rhineland-Palatinate and is characterized by three different natural landscapes: the Hunsrück, the Gaul landscapes of Saar, Moselle and Blies and the Saar-Nahe mountain and hill country. The French influence is definitely noticeable, since there have always been common roots.
The name comes from the Saar, which winds its way through the small federal state over a length of 80 kilometers. But the region is also shaped by other rivers: the Blies runs through the Saarland with a length of 100 kilometers, the Nahe rises here, and in the northwest it is bordered by the Moselle.
The Saarland cycle path leads you for the most part at the outer borders, partly on old towpaths, around the Saarland. You cycle along rivers and streams, through forests and meadows, experience tranquil villages and discover interesting cultural and historical sights.
The VeloRoute SaarLorLux runs through the river valleys and vineyards of Saar and Mosel, through the lovely Sauer valley and along the Lorraine lakes. Pretty little towns like Sarreguemines, Metz and Luxembourg offer numerous cultural highlights and culinary delights. The oldest city in Germany, Trier, is with its stately Roman buildings, the Kaisertherme and the amphitheater witness to a past, glorious era.

The length of the Saarland cycle path with start and end destination Saarbrücken is approx. 355 km. The SaarLorLux VeloRoute runs for around 480? Km through the border triangle. Excursions and variants are not taken into account.
