Dalle falesie a picco sul Mar Tirreno alla lunga dorsale solcata dalle Alte Vie, nel cuore di secolari foreste o tra pascoli d’alta quota, l’avventura delle escursioni più selvagge si unisce al sapore della scoperta di antichi borghi, fortezze dimenticate, singolari monumenti geologici e ardite mulattiere. 41 itinerari per mountain bike sull’Appennino Settentrionale, suddivisi tra Liguria di Levante, Emilia-Romagna e Toscana. Per ogni regione sono stati selezionati i tracciati più esclusivi e remunerativi, contraddistinti da una logica struttura ad anello, elevata ciclabilità, massima percentuale di sterrato e dall’inconfondibile scenario appenninico. Ogni percorso è accompagnato da una mappa schematica del tracciato, dal profilo altimetrico e dai dati tecnici generali, e illustrato da un efficace road book fotografico che permette di seguire senza difficoltà l’itinerario.

Nel corso degli anni le regioni peninsulari del Settentrione hanno subìto un’urbanizzazione molto superiore rispetto alle terre poste verso sud e questo per tutti coloro che traggono la felicità dal contatto profondo con la natura è diventato un serio problema. Dietro lo skyline delle grandi città però, ai confini di piatte distese industriali dove non arrivano ancora le scie luminose di interminabili autostrade, compare invincibile e lontano il profilo slanciato e misterioso di “un’isola“ dalle creste nebulose e dalle valli indefinite: laggiù c’è l’Appennino, il regno in cui il tempo ha rallentato e dove è facile trovare un antidoto alla frenesia e al rumore imposti dalle città. Racchiuse nei parchi e nelle riserve naturali che ormai abbiamo dissociato dalla nostra quotidianità, ci sono meraviglie dimenticate disposte a essere svelate: due ruote silenziose e una minima dose di avventura possono innescare una delle più entusiasmanti attività a nostra disposizione per assaporare bellezza e armonia, mete tanto reali e accessibili da meritare senza esitazione una benefica e liberatoria controparte di fatica e sudore.

From the cliffs overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea to the long ridge crossed by the Alte Vie, in the heart of centuries-old forests or among high-altitude pastures, the adventure of the wildest excursions combines with the flavor of discovering ancient villages, forgotten fortresses, unique geological monuments and daring mule tracks. 41 mountain bike itineraries on the Northern Apennines, divided between Eastern Liguria, Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany. The most exclusive and rewarding routes have been selected for each region, characterized by a logical ring structure, high cycling, maximum percentage of dirt road and the unmistakable Apennine scenery. Each route is accompanied by a schematic map of the route, the altimetric profile and general technical data, and illustrated by an effective photographic road book that allows you to follow the itinerary without difficulty.

Over the years, the peninsular regions of the North have undergone a much greater urbanization than the lands to the south and this has become a serious problem for all those who derive happiness from deep contact with nature. Behind the skyline of the big cities, however, on the borders of flat industrial expanses where the luminous trails of endless highways do not yet reach, the invincible and distant profile of an "island" with nebulous crests and indefinite valleys appears: over there is the Apennines, the kingdom where time has slowed down and where it is easy to find an antidote to the frenzy and noise imposed by the cities. Enclosed in the parks and nature reserves that we have now dissociated from our daily lives, there are forgotten wonders ready to be revealed: two silent wheels and a small dose of adventure can trigger one of the most exciting activities available to us to savor beauty and harmony, destinations so real and accessible that they deserve without hesitation a beneficial and liberating counterpart of toil and sweat.
