The Romea Strata runs along the ancient system of roads that ran from the Baltic Sea to Rome, leading wayfarers and pilgrims to the tombs of the apostles Peter and Paul. This volume describes the route of about 180 km (Via Romea Claudia Augusta) that from the border with Austria at the Resia Pass descends through the Val Venosta to Merano and reaches the vicinity of Bolzano and then channels into the Adige valley through Trento and Rovereto.
Here begins another route, the Via Romea Vicetia, of about 140 kilometers, which from the Trentino city of Rovereto crosses the Vicenza Prealps reaching Schio, Vicenza, the Berici hills and Montagnana, in the province of Padua. Other important variants are grafted onto these two main axes, such as the one that from the Brenner Pass leads to Bolzano, merging with the Romea Claudia Augusta; a stretch of the Via Romea Postumia that connects Verona to Vicenza, a stretch of the Via Romea Porciliana that from Verona leads to Montagnana through San Bonifacio. Project conceived and promoted by: Pilgrimage Office of the Diocese of Vicenza and the Homo Viator-San Teobaldo Foundation
