Vielleicht haben Sie auch bereits eine typisch holländische Stadt mit ihren vielfältigen und hübschen Fassaden besucht? Viele Städte der Niederlande versprühen durch die umfangreiche Geschichte eine besondere Atmosphäre. Die Landschaft ist geprägt von ihrem niedrigen Meeresspiegel und der damit verbundenen Vielfalt an Naturlandschaften.
Die beiden Landesbezeichnungen „Niederlande“ und „Holland“ werden außerhalb der Landesgrenzen häufig ohne Unterscheidung verwendet. Selbst die Niederländer bezeichnen sich selbst oft als Holländer, lediglich von einem Friesen brauchen Sie das nicht zu erwarten. „Holland“ ist der größte und wichtigste Landesteil der Niederlande. In der holländischen „Randstad“ wohnen ungefähr 10 Millionen Menschen. Die Region Holland war in der Geschichte immer das Machtzentrum der niedrig gelegenen Länder. Dies gilt besonders für die einflussreichste Periode der niederländischen Geschichte: das Goldene Zeitalter (1600-1750). In dieser Zeit der „Vereinigten Sieben Niederlande“ sorgten einflussreiche Grafen und reiche Kaufleute durch den Handel in Übersee für großen Reichtum und Wohlstand.
Heute besteht Holland aus den beiden Provinzen Nord- und Südholland. Gemeinsam mit Zeeland formen sie die holländische Nordseeküste. Das „Groene Hart“ (Grüne Herz) ist das zentrale Gebiet der Niederlande, das gemeinsam von den beiden Provinzen Nord- und Südholland und der Provinz Utrecht gebildet wird.
Das Grüne Herz wird durch die dicht besiedelte Randstad umschlossen. In den genannten Regionen finden Sie die typisch holländischen Landschaften und somit die Höhepunkte, die das Land zu bieten hat: Polder mit hohen Dämmen, Bauernhöfe, Windmühlen, herrliche Dünenlandschaften am Meer und Holzhäuser. Alle reizvollen Städte, wie Amsterdam, Delft und Middelburg, sind in die Routen mit aufgenommen. Was nicht fehlen darf, sind die populären Inseln von Südholland und Zeeland mit ihren bezaubernden Küsten und den technisch beeindruckenden Deltawerken.

This is especially true for the most influential period in Dutch history: the Golden Age (1600-1750). In this time of the "United Seven Netherlands", influential counts and wealthy merchants ensured great wealth and prosperity through overseas trade.
Today Holland consists of the two provinces of North and South Holland. Together with Zeeland, they form the Dutch North Sea coast. The "Groene Hart" (Green Heart) is the central area of the Netherlands, which is formed jointly by the two provinces of North and South Holland and the province of Utrecht.
The green heart is surrounded by the densely populated Randstad.
