De Irún a Santiago de Compostela, el Camino del Norte discurre en paralelo a la costa cantábrica. Para muchos peregrinos representa una alternativa al concurrido Camino Francés, si bien su variedad paisajística no les deja indiferentes. Se despliegan imponentes acantilados, bahías, playas de olas surferas y apacibles rías con olor a salitre. En las asperidades rocosas surgen bosques y praderas llenos de paz. Pero tampoco faltan los pueblos pesqueros con encanto, los cabos vigorosos, las pequeñas aldeas y caserones insólitos. En contrapartida, son 873 km con más de 13.000 m de desnivel acumulado: es un camino exigente y rompepiernas, que hay que merecer.

From Irún to Santiago de Compostela, the Camino del Norte runs parallel to the Cantabrian coast. For many pilgrims it represents an alternative to the busy French Way, although its landscape variety does not leave them indifferent. Imposing cliffs, bays, beaches with surfing waves and peaceful estuaries with the smell of saltpeter unfold. Forests and meadows full of peace emerge on the rocky outcrops. But there is also no shortage of charming fishing villages, vigorous capes, small villages and unusual mansions. On the other hand, there are 873 km with more than 13,000 m of accumulated unevenness: it is a demanding and leg-breaking path, which must be deserved.
